Project 21: Finished mirror and lessons learned

June 4, 2011

Starburst mirror

I did it! This one almost didn’t get done. I was having the hardest time figuring out how to make it work. The answer came to me when I was cleaning out a drawer and found a tube of Quick Grip glue. The slats are glued in two circles: the first is to an 8″ board, the second is on top of the first, and the mirror rests on the second set of slats. There is a big gap under there but this glue is holding on great. It also only needed a few hours drying time instead of 24 to 48 hours like some sites recommended.

Lessons learned:
– I am still a champion procrastinator.
– New kittens in the house make it difficult to get anything done (one is climbing me as I type).
– I have trouble even trying something if I don’t have a clear process in mind. That cost me a lot of time this week.
– I have nowhere to hang this mirror. I had to take down a painting to put it up for the photo.

Come back on Monday for project 22 — if I can decide which one it will be!
